Show box: features of this type of POS material
The marketing term show box has two meanings. On the one hand, it is a display box designed to attract customers by its appearance. The other is to protect the product from damage. The design of such a box can be pretty varied. It all depends on the product type and the marketing promotion specifics. The box is suitable for a wide range of products, especially those that require additional presentation.
The construction of a show box includes several elements:
- Enclosure. It consists of a box that acts as a frame and a lid. Specialists make the enclosure of different materials. It can be cardboard, metal, glass or plastic.
- Transparent insert. This element helps to demonstrate the product. It is made of glass or plastic and is placed in the front. It can be matt or transparent, depending on the design.
- Elements placed inside the box. These are various inserts, dividers, clips and other parts. They are usually made of cardboard, but the material can vary.
- Fasteners. Their shape and material determine how the item is attached. Manufacturers use glue, hooks and racks.
- Integrated lighting. This helps to make the visualisation more effective. Most of the time, the lighting is hidden.
Show boxes may use all or only some of the elements listed. There are no hard and fast rules. It is better to focus on the purpose of the box itself.
Types of show boxes
This type of POS material serves to package, transport and display goods. The show box differs from the traditional box in its eye-catching design, aimed at attracting the customer’s attention. The design includes an image of the product itself, not necessarily the one inside. It also displays the logo, advertising slogan, promotional list and other advertising elements. Retailers mainly use boxes for small products. There are different types of display boxes:
- The classic has a simple design with a large opening for viewing the goods. Manufacturers most often make such a box from cardboard, less often from wood or plastic.
- Mini. These boxes are similar to the classic but smaller for more compact goods.
- With lighting elements for better visualisation.
- With doors that open in different directions. This makes it easy to get the goods out of the box.
- With decorative elements. These boxes contain traditional information about the manufacturer and has various decorations.
- Shaped. They can look like animals, trees or whatever.
Boxes can come in a variety of sizes, with or without lids. The important thing is that they fulfil their function – to increase sales. In supermarkets, distributors installed show boxes on racks, special shelves or separately on the floor. These POS materials are an effective way to promote products and increase sales.
